Tonight in Kiev, the 11th Junior Eurovision will take place!
I look back over the last 10 years and play some of my favourite songs. I also look back at the evolution of the song contest and how it's not really what it started out to be. I explain some of the rules and regulations for the Junior edition (although they always change) and how some of the songs have ridiculous titles !
I also do a VERY brief recap of the 12 acts up for the title this year and explain in a sensible way *fnark* why I will be very much behind San Marino-oh-oh-oh!

Intros
This week, I started compiling a simple list of random Eurovision songs I haven't played for a while but as the list grew it soon transpired that a theme was developing.
Although ESC has the important memes and tropes of genres of song, key changes, costume changes and oversized accessories - one important hook to any Eurovision song is an 'interesting' intro.
Although not leaders in this particular field, the songs on show today have something memorable and individual about their introduction, even if the introduction (sung or not sung) is only a few seconds long. Once you hear the opening few notes you know EXACTLY what song it is and also know of you need to turn the volume up... or down !
No podcast next week but in 2 weeks time the podcast will be looking forward to Eurovision 2014 with a round up of news and events going on in Eurovision world, as well as the occasional song.
