My name is Ann, I'm in my forties, originally from Liverpool (but lived in the Somerset area for many many years) married in 2012 and currently being run around ragged by a nine year old called Marcus!
I am a primary school teacher by profession although I sometimes call myself a 'failed teacher' due to the fact that for many years I had not been able to get a 'proper job'. :o( Had lots of temporary posts, but nothing long term. After having Marcus, I took a role as a teaching assistant, which I now work at 4 days a week.
I have moved about a lot over the middle part of my life. I went to university in Scarborough, then did my teaching qualification in Bath, then taught in a school in Andover for 3 years, then came back to the Bath area in 2004. Sometimes I feel like I have left a lot of things behind. I have very few people I would call my friends mainly due to the fact that I have moved around so much and not been able to make lasting and meaningful friendships. Now that I have Marcus, it did at least mean I have places to go and classes to attend and through him I have more acquaintances than I did before.
Eurovision is a big part of my life and I've been able to converse with a lot of great Eurofans on twitter. All of who have become the nearest thing to real friends. It means a lot. Eurovision may well just be a song contest but sometimes it feels like my greatest connection to humankind. In 2023 the unthinkable happened - EUROVISION WAS BEING HELD IN MY HOME TOWN!!!! Unfortunately I was not able to go to any live shows as ESC week once again coincided with SATS but I was able to visit the long weekend before and got to see many of the acts while on the campaign trail in Liverpool as well as put faces to the names of the twitter community!
Apart from my own website here, my husband and I have a podcast called ALBUMBLE where we offer each other albums and EPs we don't think the other one has heard. These come out twice a month and, if you click on the link, will see that this is available almost everywhere you can find podcast so go and give us a listen and hit that subscribe button and tell you friends!!!!
I have also recently been diagnosed with a rare type of hearing loss called 'cookie bite'. This means I have pockets of deafness throughout the frequencies rather than losing hearing at either end of the spectrum. My hearing aids - called Dino and Beatrice - are now almost 4 years old and have helped me realise what Eurovision songs should really sound like !!!!
