Tonight in Kiev, the 11th Junior Eurovision will take place!
I look back over the last 10 years and play some of my favourite songs. I also look back at the evolution of the song contest and how it's not really what it started out to be. I explain some of the rules and regulations for the Junior edition (although they always change) and how some of the songs have ridiculous titles !
I also do a VERY brief recap of the 12 acts up for the title this year and explain in a sensible way *fnark* why I will be very much behind San Marino-oh-oh-oh!

Intros
This week, I started compiling a simple list of random Eurovision songs I haven't played for a while but as the list grew it soon transpired that a theme was developing.
Although ESC has the important memes and tropes of genres of song, key changes, costume changes and oversized accessories - one important hook to any Eurovision song is an 'interesting' intro.
Although not leaders in this particular field, the songs on show today have something memorable and individual about their introduction, even if the introduction (sung or not sung) is only a few seconds long. Once you hear the opening few notes you know EXACTLY what song it is and also know of you need to turn the volume up... or down !
No podcast next week but in 2 weeks time the podcast will be looking forward to Eurovision 2014 with a round up of news and events going on in Eurovision world, as well as the occasional song.

Random ESC
Another podcast another dollar.
No real theme to the podcast this week so I thank the lovely and reliable diggiloo.net for their wonderful random lyrics feature.
As you will see, I quickly realise that some of the songs have a slight theme to them which reminds me to advertise a special day coming up soon!
Near the end you will hear me talk about what I hope to do with the podcast in the coming weeks now that we are officially in the silly season! If you have any theme or news you would like use to cover get in touch!
There will be another podcast next week (it's half term so I can squeeze one in)

Shit List part 2
As the title suggests - this is part 2 of the Shit List!
Last week I played some of those songs that don't put me in a good mood or remind me of times past I would rather forget! In this second part I play those songs that either lift my spirits or make me that little more reflective. As you will hear, I don't hate EVERY Turkish entry :oP
The podcast served me well as I was put in a really bad mood due to a certain BBC One dancing show and I certainly calmed down after this!
Also there's a quick special mention of this year's Bundesvision Song Contest participants - last year I did a BuViSoCo celebration special. Once I get the CD I might play a few tracks. It was a good contest - and a close one too!

Shit List part 1
Last week saw Friday the 13th!
To 'celebrate' this infamous day my favourite radio station, Studio Brussel, compiled something called "The Shit List". This was a compilation of the DJs suggestions of songs that either make you feel shit, remind you of shit sor lift you up when your having shit times.
My list is most DEFINITELY the former!
Next time I will play those songs that, for me at least, are the latter... part 2!

Barefoot Eurovision
The podcast is back!
Sorry for the delay but a combination of being back at work, doing a 5km run and losing my voice has meant fitting in the podcast has not been at the top of the 'to do' pile.
This week I celebrate Denmark's win by looking back at some of the other Eurovision acts that have taken to the stage without their shoes. Obviously there are the famous ones but there are some classic songs that didn't do so well that deserve a spin.
As I discuss with myself, the next podcast will be inspired by a Friday the 13th feature on the best radio station in the world, Studio Brussel...

Possible Eurovision
This week I take a look at the songs I heard on honeymoon and extrapolate whether ANY of the songs or artists are Eurovision material. And as I explain at the top of the show, most of them possibly would not be on the stage for France...
Next week we'll be back with a 'normal' podcast with all your favourite Eurovision songs, memories and stories :o)

Eurovision Albums
Finally back from honeymoon and back home with a plethora of Eurovision music!
Today I've looked at some of the Eurovision based music I've bought and played some tracks from them. See this as an 'album taster' and might inspire you to buy the album... try before you buy almost!
Of course, spending most of my time in France, most of the music is in French or by French artists however a few Eurovision winners from further afield get around too!
Next time the podcast will be about the non-Eurovision music I heard the possibly should have been Eurovision... perhaps...

A Eurovision Honeymoon
This week's podcast has a personal feel as this time next week I will be on my way to my honeymoon to the south of France, so I have chosen some songs with a journey/holiday theme although as you will hear I seem to make up the connections as I go along.
Unscripted and disjointed warbling at it's best.
I will be back in about three weeks after the big adventure x !

Random Eurovision
Sorry for the big gaps between podcasts but I have been slightly busy!
This week has a totally random feel as I just chose 7 songs from the random lyrics tab on the diggiloo.net website at about 3pm today. Luckily most of the songs were good 'uns although I did slightly chicken out on the full names of the performers of the Turkish entry!
I intend to do another podcast in about 2 weeks time so if you have any requests or programme thoughts or show ideas get in touch!
